Hearing aids are devices that fit onto or into the ear canal and aim to make sound louder, in turn, improving one's hearing ability. We offer a range of state-of-the-art hearing aids from a wide variety of manufacturers and at various technology levels. The hearing aids are affordable and offered at competitive prices. Hearing aid selections are client-specific and involve an in-depth consideration of each patient's needs. The different hearing aid features; such as volume control, directional microphones and different listening programmes help to improve one's ability to hear in different environments. To assist in the hearing aid selection process, hearing aids come with a 30 day trial period to let you experience better hearing. Rest assured, our audiologists will take the time and care necessary to provide a proper fitting, suited to your individual lifestyle.
There are three main types of hearing aid styles:
Receiver in the canal (RIC) hearing aids:
These hearing aids are the most popular style. On RIC devices, the actual instrument fits neatly behind the ear with the receiver component sitting in the ear canal. These devices are small, compact and take a range of different battery sizes.
Behind the ear (BTE) hearing aids:
These hearing aids differ from RICS in that, although the device sits neatly behind the ear, all of the electronics are enclosed in the instrument itself. Onto the device, links a tube; which enters, and relays sound into the ear canal.
In the ear hearing aid (ITE/custom devices):
As these devices are custom-made for a person, they are the smallest of the three styles and sit neatly in the ear canal. Consequently the are generally perceived as being the most aesthetically pleasing. However, the smaller size does often result in other factors being compromised.
Bone anchored (BAHA) hearing aids:
This style of hearing aid is least commonly used. This type of device sits on the outside of the head and is only considered when conventional aids are not an option. There are surgical and non-surgical options associated with this type of aid.
